Nihilantis issued the order 'Malahi', directing its brainwashed subjects in Theia (Iujadogia & East Malia) to make their move, launching an invasion of West Malia, Macanaland, Astralo, and Sothro. Iujadogia apologised in its helpless state while Macanaland was caught off guard as the enemy simply refused to die as Macanaland was forced to raise more and more armies. Luckily for Macanaland, Gensokyo preepared a plan to defeat Nihilantis while Macanaland was being overwhelmed. Just as Macanaland was on the bring, Gensokyo arrived with a weapon they called a 'Void Inverter', reversing all of Nihilantis' actions on every enemy it struck, breaking Iujadogia out of its mind control. The liberated enemies quickly began to multiply as they were equipped with their own Inverters, successfully defeating Nihilantis as its subjects were freed. Gensokyo for now was unwilling to spread this technology due to the unverifiable source it came from and for reasons they would not yet reveal.

Nihilantis was angered and tried to use its powers to make its enemy nations forget, but their willpower was too strong. Nihilantis thus resorted to much more unorthodox measures, using its influence to force the neighbours of the 6 nations to cut off all trade, close all borders, and have them removed from the Second Rus Alliance. Gensokyo promised it would replace all material difficulties caused by this, reminding them to stay vigilant as Nihilantis was always watching. Gensokyo explained that Nihilantis was commonly underestimated, leading to him instead using these 'mind tricks' to make those that found out about his schemes forget, reminding them to keep the weapons safe as they had come from California. A visual of an impact was seen next as Nihilantis summoned an unknown friend, telling them to exploit a weak spot Nihilantis had found which this unknown polity was willing to do in order to preserve the credibility of their 'religion', as not much time was left.
