Yetia sought to increase its control over the Mediterranean, which it decided would be best achieved by securing the south side of the Gibraltar Strait by invading northern Wapistan, concluding in a success as the northern half of the country was indeed annexed, allowing Yetia to blockade the entrance to the Mediterranean.
