In the 19th of June Incident, mercenaries from the Theian Republic paid off by wealthy businessmen intimidated the government of Yamato to open up business and trade relations or it would be forced to accept the demands, which Yamato reluctantly did. Secret societies dedicated to overthrowing the shogun began to form, with these groups eventually coalescing under the 'Imperial Society of Royal Restoration', which managed to convince Emperor Emiyo Yamato to join them in a war of liberation against the Shogunate of Yamato. Shogunate forces prepared in Minshu to strike against the rebels before they could reach the capital, forcing Emiyo Yamato to flee to Kazashi to avoid capture. Polsk saw the Theian Republic's involvement as a problem as they were their main rival, thus started supporting the Imperial Society with weapons and tanks, which the Imperials used to advance towards Famuputo while Polskan ships circled the country.
Fighting continued in a stalemate for a long time after the initial offensives, with the conflict eventually merging into the Second Polskan-Republican War.
