Now no longer occupied by other matters, Luxuria asked Lineland for a joke, later stating that if it was bad Lineland would be conquered. Lineland tried to call Luxuria's bluff by saying they're too strong for Luxuria to beat, which seemed to work for now. Fearing that an actual attack would come, Lineland set up minefields to defend its borders, which unexpectedly exploded Zack Naps, leading to an international outcry as countless mourned his death in his funeral. Luxuria appeared to be angered by this development, making Lineland increasingly paranoid as they militarized their borders further and further, as well as attempting espionage missions into Luxuria itself. Fearing that an attack was now inevitable, Lineland sent an ultimatum to Luxuria that it would launch a pre-emptive strike if Luxuria did not end its empire and free its colonies, which Luxuria refused. Prompting Lineland to launch a fake border skirmish to accuse Luxuria of being evil, leading to Luxuria finally beginning the war.
Lineland advanced before Luxurian forces could arrive, pushing out of Melbourne into the surrounding countryside, though Luxuria's superior armoured forces quickly arrived and forced them to flee into a defensive formation, fleeing back into their borders which they had surrounded with traps and defences. Luxuria faced some losses against the Linelandic minefields, yet regardless continued to advance alongside forces from Luxurian Abard despite the traps and Linelandic bombing campaigns. With Luxuria quickly advancing, Lineland evacuated Melbourne and fled to Tasmania. Luxuria launched a largescale paratrooper operation to land on the island, seeing Lineland's navy as too strong to beat. With Lineland distracted by the paratroopers, Luxuria managed to successfully land on the island, quickly mopping up all remaining resistance. After the loss of Tasmania, all forces still willing to fight fled to Vancouver Island where they established the Free Linelandic Colonies.
Resistance against Luxurian rule quickly emerged, with various strikes and sabotage operations becoming commonplace, though many of these insurgents were regardless later subdued after they committed a suicide bombing. Seeing no other way to stop this from ocurring, Luxuria listened to advice from the YNF which suggested that they should make an example by publicly executing a random group of Linelandic people to instil fear of revolting among them. Despite much of the world looking on in horror, this operation was regardless a success, leading to most insurgents lying down their arms and revealing the secrets of Lineland's airship technologies. With Lineland now pacified, Luxuria began preparing for their next move...
