A recent crash of the Emiro Stockmarket had impacted Yetia's economy hard, combining with its already unstable and poor economy to cause a recession significant enough to make Yetia unable to pay its debt to the Adriatic Alliance as famines began rocking the country. Vedaburg complained to its allies in the Adriatic Alliance over Yetia's failure to pay its debts, accusing Yetia of using the stockmarket crash as an excuse not pay what they owed. Italy agreed to help Vedaburg confront Yetia, together demanding that they pay their debts despite Yetia being arguably bankrupt and incapable of even feeding its citizens. Yetia tried to reason, explaining how this was the worst economic crisis and famine within its country in 135 years, but Vedaburg ignored this despite Yetia's pleas for mercy and Italy's bad economic advice, simply stating that Yetia either pay up or it would be made to pay up. Once Yetia refused, Vedaburg stated that it would have too come take the payment Yetia owned by force as the Adriatic Alliance crossed into Yetia once more. The Adriatic Alliance, though mainly Vedan forces, quickly occupied Yetia and raided its treasuries, seizing several vital economic assets.
