After her death in the Second Quatritonian-Yetian War, a state funeral was held for Alana Tremar in Yetia, only for her funeral to be interrupted by a Quatritonia-backed terrorist attack. Outrage over this incident soon sparked a massive uprising perpetrated by supporters of the European Peace Party across much of the country. The EPP quickly seized several of the lazer towers, leading to both parties beginning to fire the beams at each other around the same time that the Turkish People's Party seized control over Crimea. Having been left incredibly disorganized to the point of being incapable of retaking Palladia, the Quatritonian loyalists fled east of the Volga river to the city of Orenberg, from which they intended to pursue a reconquest until the Kasana Laser Tower was destroyed, leaving them without their superweapon, sending the war into a stalemate between the two parties.
Kalevala used this opportunity to declare the full restoration of its independence alongside Corestias, acting as the final nail in the coffin as the State of West Tritonia headed by the EPP, the State of East Tritonia headed by the loyalists, and the Republic of Turkish Dnieprland all split from each other, leaving Tritonia in an uneasy cold war between all 3 sides. Kalevala refused to establish diplomatic relations with West Tritonia despite its claims of having ended the nationalist regime. Terrorist attacks purprotated by both sides began to happen, with the first being a bombing of the bank building in Palladia City.
