After the Sarpistani-Yetian War Yetia began to gradually increase its influence in Sarpistan, leading to Sarpistan instigating a revolt within Hayas, deciding upon the Azeri minority as the people to radicalize. Yetia began involving itself in order to prevent the rise of a pro-Sarpistan Azeri sate, sending weapons and some soldiers to Hayas' aid but nothing too extensive. Once the Azeris declared their Republic, a massive refugee crisis began as the war quickly devolved into an ethnic conflict between the two peoples. Yetia decided to withdraw its support as it saw the war was essentially lost thanks to the Azeri's successes, leading to Sarpistan openly joining the war. The Hayasian army in Artsakh was forced to flee into Apothelis while Yerevan was soon pressured into surrendering in return for autonomy.
After the war, Yetia pressured Apothelis and Tritonia into embargoing and cutting off all relations with Azeria in order to diplomatically and economically isolate them. In response, Azeria began making threats and announcing that it claimed Apotheline territory.
