Fearful that they would be next after the events of the Quatritonian-Kalevian War, Yetia began rapid militarization efforts in order to grow its defence forces and improve their discipline, soon also instigating cooperation between itself and nations such as Sarpistan, Choros, Waclaw, and the New Sizzlean Empire in order to establish the Athens Pact. All of the sudden, a massive bombing occurred in Palladia City's Sky Palladia perpretated by EPP and TPP extremists, greatly damaging to the building to the point of possibly collapsing within days without intervention, prompting Quatritonia to scramble to keep up up with whatever supports they could after sealing it off with fences and cutting it off from the Metro Drainage Area due to the building only being held up by the Mass Dampener. Yetia's leadership convened to decide on what should be done about Quatritonia, eventually coming to the conclusion that internal destabilization is their best bet after placing their army on the border just in case. Yetia considered inviting Morduria to the Athens Pact, but due to Quatritonian pressure this did not go through.
Yetia began to experiment with alternate methods of power generation as Quatritonia began to upgrade the Laser Tower Array by refining the new Immolator Beam, though the most important of Yetia's next actions was a conference regarding its strategy. President Ella's plan was to have a fighting retreat away from the flat Vedaburg and Ezon regions westwards while a TPPY uprising would keep the Quatritonians occupied while Yetia would entrench itself in the Alps and the surrounding small corridors to the Adriatic Sea and Polish border. Quatritonia soon militarized the border, prompting Yetia to intensify its efforts as invasion appeared to be imminent, breaking its treaty-bound army restrictions out of desperation. Unbeknownst to Yetia, Quatritonia had already made its move by launching a surprise invasion and occupation of Morduria, which they were seemingly going to use as a springboard to invade Sarpistan... until suddenly the Quatritonian army punched into Yetia's borders and began to gradually charge up the Laser Tower Array.
Quatritonian Invasion of Yetia
Quatritonian artillery divisions blasted through the Yetian front in Crimea and Turkey, from which they soon turned to attack the Sarpistanis as well in a massive attack until their armies could respond to calm the front by cutting them off by firing rockets at the mountains to cause landslides, accidentally bringing casualties to themselves which gave Sarpistan an opening to fight back with support given to it by Hongerswak, while the rest of the Athens Pact was supported by Sipedro. Noticing how underdefended Vedaburg was, Quatritonia launched an offensive into the Czechohungaria province, while simultaneously setting up defences at Sipedroan New Sizzle just in case Quatritonian forces soon reached Yetia's fortifications in the mountains and narrow passages, deciding that pushing deeper wouldn't be worth it. Quatritonia failed to convince its enemies to simply surrender, as Yetia and Sarpistan dug in to hold back the invaders. Yetia's plan with Anatolia initially seemed to go well as the TPPY had indeed risen up, though the plan would shortly fail once the TPPY decided to side with Quatritonia instead after receiving promises of independence, leading to the Republic of Alinya being proclaimed. Quatritonia used this opening to launch a offensive into the Balkans and thru the railway network, forcing Yetia to sabotage its own infrastructure. Sarpistan relentlessly defended itself and pushed back the Quatritonians, forcing them to flee back to Morduria. Instead of pushing into Choros, Quatritonia pushed thru the lightly defended Yetian flatlands in the east, managing to properly secure this strategy by signing a cease fire with Choros in order to properly secure the push all the way to the Adriatic. Seeing as Sarpistan was not much of a threat due to the caucasus mountains, Quatritonia did not bother with counteroffensives against them beyond trapping them in the mountains, eventually leading to Sarpistan and Quatritonia signing a peace agreement in Astracai in which Sarpistan would demilitarize its borders in return for peace. Having successfully smashed through the Balkans, Quatritonia encircled a large number of Yetians in the dinaric alps right before they hit the 'brick wall' that were the Alpine fortlines, meeting significant troubles in continued advancement. Failing to push deeper into Yetia, Quatritonia took some time to build up its supplies and plan a way to break through.
After diverting forces to deal with a surprise Anatolian offensive by the New Sizzlean Empire, Quatritonia offered a conditional peace in which Yetia would hand over the Czechohungaria and Balkan Provinces, which Yetia refused. Claiming that Yetia had decided its fate, Quatritonia fired the Laser Array onto Yetia's fortifications, obliterating the forts, knocking out most of Yetia's power, drastically increasing temperatures, and instigating wildfires across Yetia, utterly shattering Yetia's defensive lines and inciting global panic. Fearing that the weapon would be fired again, Yetia began repeated kamikazi attacks on the array in an attempt to disable it, though it regardless managed to fire an additional shot which wiped out Yaverncost and caused a massive flood in Niederbach, leaving the area as a major opening they could break through especially once realising that the remnants of the Alpine Forts continued to hold for a while, though the Balkan holdouts were not as lucky. Fearing Scandimarian intervention, Yetia reluctantly agreed to become a Quatritonian vassal and hand over Crimea in order to avoid losing its eastern territories, leading to the other surviving members of the Athens Pact signing peace with Quatritonia. After being forced into subservience, Yetia began to sulk by building up its forts and being uncooperative despite Alinya agreeing to rejoin Yetia.
Aftermath
Anti-Quatritoonian resistance groups started becoming increasingly prevalent in Yetia, leading to largescale riots that eventually convinced the Yetian government to ask for returned independence after a few months of vassalhood, which Quatritonia accepted due to fears of overextension as long as Yetia disbanded the Athens Pact. This incident led to somewhat of a disagreement between the bulk of the QNP and emperor Almer Quatermar, whose expansionism began to be seen as untenable in the eyes of the party.
