During Tritonia's mid-term byelections the communists managed to surpass the current government in seats, necessitating snap elections. Five parties ran, the European Peace Party, Quatritonian Communist Party, Tritonian Nationalist Party, Rusian Democrats, and Turk Ittifaki. 600 seats were available, and 350 were needed to win. In a landslide victory, the Rusian Democrats managed to win and begin implementing a number of 'reforms', implementing more and more seats by dividing their winning districts until they gerrymandered the entire Tritonian political system, abolishing the previous Tritonian Constitution and implementing the Rusian Constitution instead as the 'Republic of Rusia' was born. Yetia tried to pressure Rusia into undoing its constitutional changes, but it was largely incapable of enforcing its demands.
