Svealand demanded that Niedereich hand over control of the island of Bornholm, which it refused despite being outgunned by Svealand. Svealand quickly occupied the island, but Niedereich continued to resist, forcing them to launch an invasion of mainland Niedereich. Having been invaded without that much of a chance of victory, the Niedereich agreed to Svealand's terms and handed over Bornholm.
