A major terrorist attack occurred in Rapa Nui, Islandia which lead to the death of the king and all princes (regional rulers), forcing the Islandian Parliament to seize full control over the country as the entire executive branch had been wiped out. Emergency elections were thus organized to establish new leadership within the country, concluding in a victory of the 'Islandian Technocratic Party' who seized full control over the nation and reorganized it into the 'Islandian Technate'.
