The Realm of Uriankhai grew unstable as a mysterious figure had been gaining support among the public, rallying them around the ideals of a greater Mongol state, prompting the Uriankhai to try to shut this down which failed as a revolt began. With Uriankhai in chaos, Yakamoto and its two protectorates of Kitayato and Meninguo decided to intervene. Unluckily for Yakamoto, Khuree Uls was ruled by Googas Khan, a masterful strategist who fought back relentlessly against the invaders, even pushing into Meninguo. Meninguo sent its army south to try to defeat the Khuree Uls army, but ended up encircled and destroyed. Though, Meninguo soon found the cause of Khuree Uls' success as they found that Yetia had been supplying them with weapons, prompting Yakamoto to angrily confront Yetia over meddling in Asian affairs, which Yetia explained as deserved as Yakamoto had signed the 'Baghdad Accord' designed to oppose Yetia. Yakamoto stated that Yetia didn't have to spread its ideals everywhere as not every place had to be run like they were, to which Yetia explained that it was a democracy not an imperialist, suggesting that Yakamoto should interpret their doctrine as allowing the people to have a choice in government rather than having them abide by Yetia's system. As Meninguo was overrun, Kitayato noted that there were even Yetian soldiers fighting for Khuree Uls, making Yakamoto decide that if Yetia wouldn't play fair then neither would they. Yakamoto contacted Sarpistan, leader of the Baghdad Accord, and explained the situation, prompting Sarpistan to confront Yetia as a dispute began. Sarpistan asked Yakamoto what actions it should take, so Yakamoto decided that a alliance-wide declaration of war would be sufficient, which Sarpistan abided by as it announced that the Baghdad Accord was declaring war on the Liberty Pact, starting World War 18.
As the Liberty Pact and Baghdad Accord entered war, soon drawing in Nakmai in the Liberty Pact and Nay'Bling in the Baghdad Accord. Khat and Wanaoishi fell out as the two were caught on opposing sides, with Wanaoishi being uninterested in Khat's plan to liberate Sarpistan from Ayaz Cevik and the whole 'democracy' thing, prompting Khat to begin preparing revolts in its enemies. Yetia began freaking out over the sheer number of enemies it and its allies had to face and democratize. Cocala freaked out as it was effectively surrounded, prompting Lizarb to try a desperate offensive into Lustland to help them. Yetia extended the existence of the Liberty Pact Mandate of Yorica in order to ensure their loyalty, although this act was incredibly unpopular within them. All of the sudden, the UQLSR formed an alliance with the Liberty Pact and declared war on the Baghdad Accord, freaking out the Baghdad Accord enough to recruit the Luxurian Raj to their side. Poavak thus tried to recruit Luxuria itself to their side, which failed as Luxuria still needed to recover, though at least it managed to convince Nay'Bling to switch sides. Sizzle (under Taiwan's direction) and the Luxurian Raj launched a major offensive into Nakmai, who began setting up traps while Nay'Bling kept making puns. The Liberty Pact crushed down on Palladia from all sides as their defeat was apparent, only for Vedaburg to suddenly hold elections which lead to the Greater Vedaburg Party seizing power and joining the Baghdad Accord, espousing that even if the members of the Liberty Pact were independent, it didn't mean anything if all they did was listen to Yetia's orders. Poland agreed with this ethos and switched sides, which was enough to convince Choros, Italy, and Malta to switch sides. Najova vowed to keep supporting Yetia, which caused right-wing groups to rise up and coup the government, switching sides as well. Yetia was shocked and taken aback as all it wanted was for people to have a choice in their rulersven having sent away most of its army to protect its allies. With its armies elsewhere and its government unwilling to fight its allies, Yetia was soon forced to surrender.
With its Yetian backers gone, the LPM of Yorica collapsed into civil war as the Second Socialist States of Yorica, Second Republic of Texas, Texan Red Guard, Second Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Second Republic of Nuevopedro, Second Free Yorican Society, Provisional Government of California, Virginia People's Republic, and Third Confederate States of Yorica (who aligned with the Baghdad Accord) rose up in rebellion. Meanwhile in Catania, dissatisfaction with the Liberty Pact's failure in the Hyperborean Continuation War allowed Adrien LeBlanc of the National Unity Party to rally 20 thousand soldiers to march on the royal palace, forcing the monarchy's hand into replacing the previous pm with LeBlanc as limiting the monarchy into being mere figureheads as fascism overtook Catania. As fighting broke out throughout Yorica, the people's dissatisfaction with the prospect of yet another partition lead to Virginia collapsing as people flocked to the "Yorican Federalist Army" dedicated to the restoration of a unified liberal Yorica, although Nuevopedro and Texas signed agreements to maintain their independence, soon leading to the Federalists reunifying Yorica under the Third United States of Yorica. Yorica's first act was to swoop in to Spisos' protection, joining them into the Federalist sphere as a close ally in order to protect them from Catanian aggression.
Poavak and Nakmai saw surprising success against the Baghdad Pact in southeast Asia, dealing a massive defeat to the Taiwanese and Sizzlean armies, prompting Nay'Bling to forcibly tell puns to Taiwan despite its objections; stating "What type of blood do people from Taiwan have? ...Taipei!", which enraged Taiwan enough to invade Nay'Bling. Fighting continued in Europe as the Baghdad Accord pushed into the UQLSR across the entire front, soon forcing them to sign an armistice due to their lack of morale because of Yetia's capitulation, leading to Palladia reclaiming its eastern territories and Kalevala reclaiming Karelia and Kola. Fighting continues in Africa and the Middle East, giving an opportunity for a mysterious figure to arrive in Tripoli. Tripoli questioned who this was, so they revealed themselves as Benito Sussolini, former dictator of the Third Roman State. Sussolini's armies marched out and proclaimed the 'State of Italian Africa', aligning itself with Catania under the 'Front for National Revolutionary Action'. All remaining Liberty Pact members of Africa surrendered after Khat signed an armistice due to enemy armies reaching its capital of Khartoum. In Europe, Scotland launched a largescale offensive against England and Ireland, though this soon was reduced to a stalemate despite Wales refusing any aid requests. Hyperborea took advantage of the fighting to launch 'Operation Prosgeiosi', a invasion of Iceland and Jan Mayen, successfully annexing the two territories. England and Ireland soon reluctantly signed peace with Scotland, handing over significant portions of territory. With the war clearly a Baghdad Accord victory, Poavak and Nakmai signed a white peace, soon being followed by Sipedro, Islandia, and Lizarb, leaving only Khuree Uls. Khuree Uls quickly fell, though a reporter by the name of Su-Wei Yang reported strange numbers of refugees.
And thus, World War 18 concluded in a victory for the Baghdad Accord, and now was time for the peace treaty.
