Discovery of the Mystery Flesh Pit
After the end of the Daybreak, much of Theia was left destroyed and chaotic as nations lost control over significant portions of their territory due to the sheer amount of casualties. Osania launched an expedition into its unruly northern territories after it was properly re-established, uncovering something strange, so they contacted the scientifically-focused Iujadogia for guidance. After being asked for information, Osania described how they had discovered a massive 'cavern' composed of living tissue accessed through some kind of mouth. This creature was no fungus either, as it bled and breathed through its surprisingly mammalian internal structure. Iujadogia had never even seen this before despite its impressive scientific records, thus it contacted the much more botanically gifted Gensokyo for assistance, who was also confused by its presence as it had seemingly been completely undiscovered underground for centuries if not millennia at this point. In order to better understand this newfound oddity, the three countries formed the Gensokyo-Iujadogia-Osania Research Committee and constructed a facility known as the 'Lower Visitor Centre' to research this new 'Mystery Flesh Pit', soon being joined by the 'Anodyne Corporation' who sponsored their endeavours so that it may make use of the resources in the area.
Railways were expanded to reach the pit, a massive 'Main Service Elevator' was built down into its depths, and massive 'Upper Tesla Coils' were built to support the elevator. In order to ensure that it would remain under the GIORC and Anodyne's control, they published thee existence of the pit so that the SDS Foundation could not proclaim it an anomaly and take it for themselves, reinforcing these plans by making the pit a publicly accessible 'Natural Preserve' for tourists, making it notorious enough to no longer be capable of being covered up.
