After years of neglect, the northern provinces of Itachia organized a sudden revolt as the 'Frente de Liberación de Cocola' or 'Cocala Liberation Front' decided to fight to secede. With no one willing to offer support, the CLF quickly managed to secure significant portions of northern Itachia.
After more than a decade of stalemate, the CLF launched a renewed offensive against the enemy, leading to the World Defence Initiative (an alliance lead by Yorica which Itachia was a part of) to officially announce an intervention. This intervention greatly angered the CLF, who began launching attacks on cities beyond its claims. The CLF was quite good at fighting against the Itachians but it had several difficulties in fighting the WDI forces, especially once they began a program of isolating and destroying pockets of CLF forces. The situation in Itachia began to deteriorate as the military grew tired of the democratic government's sub-par leadership which had weakened their nation, leading to a coup which forced the elected government out as Yorica sided with the military. Remaining loyalists to the old government proclaimed the 'Itachian Democratic Republic' while the Military reorganized itself into the Itachian Republic. The IR and WDI pulled back forces from fighting the CLF in order to destroy the IDR, soon forcing their leader Jose Chaves to flee across the border with Brazil to avoid capture.
With the IDR essentially neutered, the IR and WDI launched a renewed offensive against the CLF, who failed to negotiate a peace agreement with the Lima Government. As the WDI and IR pushed deep into CLF territory, the Liberation Front quickly shifted away from being a de-facto sovereign state to being a loose collective of Guerilla units which were incredibly difficult to fully snuff out. Despite their hardiness, nearly a decade and a half of warfare had tired out the CLF to the point that they no longer saw a reason to fight, leading to them considering escape before realising that they had no way out, leading to them surrendering to the Itachian Republic. Also seeing no way to win, the remnants of the IDR quickly began to flee across the border with Lustland while Itachian forces hunted them down until all that could had escaped, with the WDI deciding against pursuing as to avoid upsetting Lustland. With all armed groups in Itachia now destroyed or in exile, the WDI withdrew its forces from Cocala as the state returned to peace for the first time in ages.
